A Journey End A Journey End Novella edition by Ann Christopher Literature Fiction eBooks
A surprisingly sweet, sexy and compelling novella. That’s a rarity. This is my first story by Christopher and will not be my last. Miranda Lowe moved to Journey’s End to open her dream business - Java Nectar. She loves her life. She loves her twin boys. She might still have a wee bit of resentment towards her ex-husband because of who he broke his marriage vows with but it is what it is. Who she can't get over is James Harper. James's business is right next door and he stops in every morning for a cup of java. I really wanted to know more about him and the relationship he has with his younger brothers. In a few short pages Christopher got me to care about Miranda, her sons and even her best friend. I liked this small town. I liked the way the residents treated each other and I especially the way they welcomed Miranda.
There's enough story here that even while I was reading it and knowing that it's a novella I grumbled about wanting more about this couple. James...he's a quite one. The tension when he came into the store was a whole lot of fun and to say you could feel it in the air is a bit of an understatement. He liked the forbidden fruit that was Miranda but as a widower he was ladened with guilt and the 'what if he liked Miranda and something happens to her too' syndrome. All valid in his world.
Things come to a head when a winter storm blows through town and city-slicker Miranda doesn't listen to James. That was a sweet bit of tension and the rescue was delicious. Things happened way too fast after that considering the slow pace that happened to that point but it didn't take away too much.
Happy reading folks!

A Journey End A Journey End Novella edition by Ann Christopher Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
While looking for a new holiday story to read this week, I discovered A Journey's End by Ann Christopher. I absolutely LOVED it! I want to live in Journey's End and hang out with these people, especially in their awesome coffee house! I quickly read the next 2 books in the series (Let's Do It, and On Fire) and they are equally as awesome as the first! These are smart, sexy reads with amazing characters. I love them all! (And will be starting on book 4 asap!)
First time reading this author and was not impressed. There was no connection with the characters at all. And from all descriptions this did not read like a BwWm romance like a WwWm romance.
This is my first time reading anything from Ann Christopher and it was a good short read for a rainy night.
Her description of people, places and things is excellent. I can tell she's a seasoned author. The story flowed so well and the characters were carefully thought out. I recommend this book to anyone needing a quick read that's a definite page turner. Hope to see wherever James and Randi goes from here. Gonna see if there's a part 2.

The story started off with lots of promise, but it never really delivered. Being intimately familiar with hypothermia and frostbite, I found that part of the story very unbelievable. I thought the characters needed more work and the passion level never really got hot enough to start a fire. If it had been any longer, I might not have finished it.
After waiting excitedly for this book to come out, I'm really sad to say that it was just okay. I just couldn't connect to these characters or the story, and found myself skipping ahead several times. I think the disconnect for me was that we learned about how the characters met and fell in love mostly through flashbacks, so it didn't feel like we were experiencing the emotions with them - we were just kind of looking back on what happened. Also, we also didn't get any idea of what the characters looked like until we were well into the book; and the descriptions were pretty generic, at best (he had brown hair, brown eyes; she had a big, butt and long wavy hair). This author typically writes about African Americans, but we were never given any idea about the races of tany characters, which I found a little off-putting. The tags listed for the book (or Look for Similar Items by Category)didn't even include any reference to this being an African American romance. I'm a little (okay, a lot) disappointed in this, as I've always loved that Ann Christopher has always created smart, strong, African American men who meet these smart, strong, African American women and then lose their natural minds. If she's going in a different direction, I'd love to know.
I usually get this author's books as soon as they hit , but for the first time ever, I'm going to wait to read the reviews on the rest of the series before I buy. Ann Christopher, wherever you've been hiding, please come back! I miss you!
I have read other books by this author that were much better. This one was a bit disappointing. It wasn't a bad storyline. However, I didn't like how the author continued the story (six weeks later) with another novella as book #4. She should have made this book a regular full length novel. Also, James has four other brothers that were not introduced in book 1 along with their mother. A brother named Daniel was mentioned but his book hasn't been written yet! From my experience in reading other connecting series by other authors, siblings and/or friends are always introduced in books prior to their own book. That wasn't the case with this book. I am hesitant to purchase books 2 and 3 because I don't want to be disappointed. Maybe one day I will when I run out of books to read.
Miranda owns a coffee shop in upper state NY. Moving on from a divorce, she attempts to rebuild a hopeful future for herself & her twin boys.
James owns the outdoorsy shop next door. He's recovering from his wife's death a year prior. When his meddling mother introduces him to Miranda, they can't deny the attraction. They both realize they're fascinated with the other and this could be a chance of a lifetime. If only James could set aside the hurt and abandonment he's felt from the death of his wife....
